The R&B Project

During the garageband project, I chose to explore the question "What makes an excellent R&B tune?" Through my exploration, I concluded that an excellent R&B tune needs to express a mood, emotion, idea, and story. It also has to be interesting to the audience by adding several different instruments, having different sections, etc. I chose to create an R&B tune because I enjoy listening to the genre of R&B and wanted to learn how to perform it. During this project, I learned a variety of knowledge and skills, including describing and analyzing R&B music, making musical decisions, creating melodies, creating chord progressions, creating drum beats, using different tones, and learning garageband editing skills. Please enjoy my R&B track below.

The Piano Project

During this project, I chose to perform the piece “Nocturne op. 9/2” by Chopin because I enjoy the smoothness and speed of this particular Chopin piece. This piece is memorable and stood out because of it’s expressive qualities. During the project, I focused on the big ideas of 1) expression and 2) technique. This piece expresses a peacefulness, solitude, and tranquility that relaxes people. Some of the technical aspects used during this project are proper posture, playing fluently, and executing the correct dynamics. Please enjoy my performance of “Nocturne op. 9/2” by Chopin.
