  Project Showcase

The Dubstep Project- by Jack and Chase

For our project, we chose to produce three dubstep tracks and upload them to the popular music sharing website “soundcloud”. During this project, we learned a variety of knowledge and skills including how to create an interesting track and how to create various moods in a song. We learned numerous garageband skills including using the midi controller to create drum beats, bass lines, and melodies.  We also learned many garageband editing skills including splitting the tracks and copy and pasting some beats. Before we started writing the music, we listened to dubstep song examples in order to get ideas for our song. We had to figure out what makes an excellent dubstep song before we began. We think an excellent dubstep song has to have a good melody, bass, beats, and needs to keep your attention. We hope you enjoy our dubstep tracks.

The Music Video Project- by Florrie, Angela and Anna

For our project, we made a music video to the song Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Michael Buble. The song is basically about someone who loves someone else that she hasn't met yet. During the project, we focused on the big ideas of expression and making our song and music video interesting. During the project, we learned a variety of knowledge and skills including us improving our previous knowledge on how to record and edit the song using garageband, editing on imovie, script writing, and expressing the mood of the song. We also focused on problem solving and collaboration throughout the project. To start the project, we talked about the mood of the song, which we said was an upbeat song but the words were kind of depressing. We also talked about what makes a good video. Once we learned and rehearsed the song, in our second phase we recorded Angela singing it on garageband. We started out by recording the instrumentals with Florrie on the piano and we all added the rest of the instruments on the computer.  During the third phase of the project we finished the music and started to record our video! We would go around the school and while Florrie recorded me, Isabella and Anna would edit the footage we made every day. Hope you enjoy our video!

The Rock Podcast Project

For this project, we decided to make a podcast comparing popular music today to popular music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. In the comparison, we talk about how different the sounds and lyrics are and how music has changed throughout the decades. We wanted to do this because we like classic rock and we don’t think enough people appreciate it. Throughout the project, we explored the driving question “How has popular music changed throughout the decades?” We also learned how to analyze and describe music, how to use the garageband application, and how to collaborate.
